The weapon was manufactured at a Belgian arms plant in Herstal. It was purchased by 23-year-old Turkish assassin Ali Agca. It was from it in St. Peter's Square in Rome that he fired two shots at John Paul II.

The gun is metallic gray, has a relatively long barrel and an enclosed trigger tongue. The gun is assembled, the magazine is placed in the center. The gun is slightly dented, under the magazine, and the indentation was caused by the gun hitting the cobblestones when, after the second shot, the gun jammed and fell on the cobblestones. It was then that its magazine, filled with 12 cartridges, was partially damaged - dented.
