The exhibition "John Paul II: Man and Culture" reflects various aspects of the life of the Polish Pope and his commitment to culture and education. Quoting the words of John Paul II, the exhibition will touch on the most important issues of culture in the life of nations, spoken during the Pope's speech at UNESCO headquarters:
"The strength of that speech was that it was not a theory of culture, but a testimony about culture. The ordinary testimony of a man who, on the basis of his own experience, gave expression to what culture was in the history of his people and what that culture is in the history of all peoples" (John Paul II).
The exhibition, which recalls the most important excerpts from the Pope's speech at UNESCO headquarters, is illustrated with photographs from the archives of the Museum of the Family Home of the Holy Father John Paul II in Wadowice, as well as from the Archives of the Metropolitan Curia in Cracow. This is at the same time a collection of reflections in which John Paul II tried to find the roots of what is happening in the world, in order to give contemporaries - individuals and entire nations - the opportunity to awaken in themselves, through a careful return to "memory," a living sense of their own "identity"
The development of the exhibition "John Paul II: Man and Culture," the Museum of the Family Home of the Holy Father John Paul II in Wadowice entrusted the SOWA SZENK s.c. studio. The first exhibition took place on December 16, 2013 at the UNESCO building in Paris.
